Probat L12 Rebuild in 2011

Check out another beautiful and well taken care of classic 12 kilo Probat L12 Roaster. No problems, no defects, and fully Probat rebuilt. This is a solid machine with a ton of upgrades and maintenance. Built circa 1988.

Current owner letting it go due to higher batch output today required due to company growth. Typical running since rebuild has only been a couple roasts an hour, couple hours a day for a few days a week.

Prior owner had it rebuilt by Probat in 2011 when they were still rebuilding their own machines. That rebuild was overseen by Launtia Taylor at Probat's factory in Chicago.

Various repairs and modifications have been done since then, including:

- A gas flow meter installed (inches of water)

- New main switch (load safety)

- New continuous igniter

- Cropster RI Bridge installed

- Modified Watlow Controls to work with RI Bridge included

- Rewired drive motor

- Refinished stirrer drive shaft

- Descaled burners

- Replaced Drive belt

- Adjusted drive chain to correct length to minimize slippage

Current owner drove to Brooklyn in 2017 to pick up the machine from prior owner. After the drive across the country we readjusted the drive chain length, readjusted the frame tension, and worked through more electrical and mechanical issues to make the machine really sing.

It's a simple machine that's easy to work on and easy to find parts for. The vintage feel and interesting history really make this Probat a special machine.

In production, this workhorse can roast up to 10,000 lbs. a week, depending on roast. On a strong 10 hr. production day, a max 25 lb. batch @ 6 batches p/hr. would roast over 10,000 lbs. of coffee in a week, with no problems. Probat's are strong, solid machines that carry the reputation that holds up.
