If you’re running a small coffee roastery or cafe and find yourself looking to expand or upgrade to keep up with business — well, that’s a good problem to have. That means you’re selling enough coffee to be profitable, so the trick is to manage an expansion plan that’s seamless and boosts efficiencies in the process. Check out the video below for a closer look.
We had the opportunity in late 2020 and early 2021 to work with What’s The Buzz Specialty Coffee on a “roaster refresh” that involved selling two older roasters in exchange for a brand new Primo roaster. And, we handled it all in under 100 days.
There are so many different ways to expand. Maybe you need to swap spaces to allow you to grow beyond your humble beginnings. Perhaps you need to add equipment like a destoner, automatic sealer, or loader to level up your operations. Or, it might be time to upgrade your coffee roaster to better manage production output and roasting hours.
We’ve seen coffee roasteries of every shape and size cobbled together in locations ranging from garages to pole buildings. And, we’ve witnessed DIY equipment builds to borrowed or hand-me-down items, used Craigslist finds, and so many more odd configurations. We coffee roasters are an enterprising lot, and if ever there were a real-world illustration of the quote, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” it might just be found in a small coffee roastery setup.
If you can relate all too well to these examples and have been considering an upgrade, we’re here to help. We can assist you in selling your current roaster and buying a new or used one that fits your needs. We can also help you finance it or improve your plant layout and operations.
