These Roasters Are Simply PRIMO.

5 FUN FACTS ABOUT PRIMO

If you read our Roastery Story about What’s The Buzz Specialty Coffee, then you might recall that they swapped out two older roasters for a brand-new 30-kilo Primo roaster. We call this ultimate swap a “Roaster Refresh” — and we can help you do the same for your own roastery business.

A new Primo roaster could be a good choice for you, especially if you appreciate reliable American-made equipment that’s also a little bit renegade with its endless mechanical and cosmetic customization options.

If you think you know about Primo, we say look again. Did you know that about two years ago, Primo was sold to Brandon Miller, a young and enterprising coffee roaster and design engineer? Since then, he’s been laser-focused on re-branding and re-designing each Primo machine to bring a more “hip and new-school vibe” to the coffee industry. His hard work has paid off with the all-new Xr-Series of Primo machines in 5-, 15-, 20-, and 30-kilo batch sizes. Read on for a few more things you might not know about Primo.

1. PRIMO IS PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA.

Primo roasters are hand-built in Southern California using American steel. Each order is overseen by CEO Brandon Miller and Design Lead Christian Longnecker and comes with an industry-leading two-year warranty. A few features stand out:

  • Digital two-stage temperature controllers allow you maximum control of your roasting profile
  • Automatic airflow controls make continuous production easy and reliable
  • Specially designed paddle mechanisms move the coffee in the drum efficiently, creating an incredibly even roast

2. PRIMO OFFERS GREAT SERVICE.

CEO Brandon Miller will go out of his way to make sure your Primo is working to meet your business needs. In fact, he recently flew from California to Texas to meet with a CoffeeTec client to ensure the installation of their new 30-kilo Primo was running efficiently. If you’re a Primo owner, you can expect this same level of service.

3. PRIMO'S CUSTOMIZATION IS UNPARALLELED.

Don’t settle for a generic roaster. The Primo team has a vision of building exactly what you want. From single- or double-walled drums, infrared or aspirated burners, variable speed drum airflow, and so much more, you have complete control. This also extends to the design, offering over 300+ color options and the ability to add logos and other artwork. Ranging from 3 to 30 kilos, you truly can build the roaster of your dreams!

4. PRIMO SERVICES MULTIPLE ROASTING INDUSTRIES.

Brandon is a fellow roaster and design engineer and can work with you to customize your roaster for a variety of products beyond coffee beans, including: cacao, millet, wheat, noodles, barley, grape seeds, wood chips, and more. NO roasting project is too complex for the Primo team.

5. PRIMO IS EXCLUSIVELY DISTRIBUTED BY COFFETEC.

We are thrilled to match interested buyers with Primo roasters. In fact, we have four Primo roasters in production right now to ship out to clients across the USA. If you’re looking for a US-built roaster that’s comparable to a Diedrich, this is it. (Another fun fact: Primo was founded by Dion Humphreys of Diedrich, where he developed an infrared burner technology that’s the predecessor to what’s included in today’s Primo roasters.)
