Coffee Bag Needles and Warehouse Handling Tools

Coffee bag handling and warehouse tools keep a roastery's loading dock running day-to-day. This collection covers the equipment used to move, sew, and manage burlap bags of green coffee: bag hooks for a safe grip, needles and jute twine for closing bags, a platform scale for quick weight checks, and ladders for warehouse work. These are working tools for the dock, built for repeated daily use rather than a lab bench. If your work is grading or testing coffee instead, see our coffee sieves and sieve shakers collection for that side of the operation.

Every hook, needle, and scale here comes from CoffeeTec's usual review process. We check condition before anything goes live, so you know exactly what you are getting, whether it is a used platform scale or a set of bag needles fresh out of the package.

Warehouse Tools vs. Lab Equipment

The items in this collection handle the physical side of moving coffee: gripping bags, sewing them shut, weighing loads, and reaching stock on high shelves. If you also run cupping or quality control tests, our coffee cupping lab equipment collection carries the scales, moisture meters, and roast analyzers built for that bench work instead.

Handling Burlap Bags the Right Way

Burlap bags of green coffee get handled dozens of times before they reach a roaster. A coffee bag hook protects your fingers and grip while pulling bags across a dock. A bag needle paired with jute twine lets you resew a torn bag or close one after sampling, using the same stitching method mills have used for decades. Keep a few spare needles and a spool of twine on hand since both wear out with regular use. For more on keeping bags in good condition once coffee is inside, see our guide on storing green coffee beans.

Have you used dock or warehouse equipment to sell? CoffeeTec is a two-sided marketplace, so you can list it for sale as your setup changes.

FAQs

What's the difference between a coffee bag hook and a drag hook?

+

A bag hook is built for a single steady grip when pulling or carrying a bag by hand. A drag hook has a longer handle and is meant for pulling a bag along the floor in the direction you want it to go.

How do I sew a torn burlap coffee bag closed?

+

Thread a bag needle with jute twine, then stitch across the tear the way a sack gets closed at the mill. A 6-inch or 7-inch needle provides enough reach for most burlap weights.

What is a coffee trier used for?

+

A trier is a sampling tool that pierces a closed burlap bag to pull a small sample of green coffee without opening the whole bag. It is a different tool from a bag needle, which is for closing bags rather than sampling them.

Do I need a platform scale if I already weigh coffee elsewhere?

+

A platform scale on the dock lets you catch weight discrepancies as bags come in or go out, before they reach a more precise lab scale. It is a practical first check rather than a replacement for cupping or QC scales.

What's the standard size for coffee bag needles?

+

Bag needles for green coffee sacks commonly run 5 to 7 inches long, with gauge sized to match the twine. A shorter needle suits lighter burlap, while a longer one gives more reach on heavier bags.

Do you carry tools for grading or sizing green coffee too?

+

Yes, sizing and grading equipment lives in a separate collection built for that job. Check out our collection of coffee sieves and sieve shakers above for hand sieves and motorized shakers used in quality control.
