About Constant Heat Sealers
Constant heat sealers use two heated jaws that stay at a set temperature the whole time the machine is running, giving you a wide, strong seal on thicker packaging materials. Also called direct heat sealers, they are built for coated aluminum foil, Kraft paper, cellophane, mylar, and coated polypropylene, materials that need more heat penetration than a quick impulse seal provides. Below you'll find foot-operated and automatic models from AIE and Sealer Sales, sized for production runs ranging from small to high volume, as well as for tabletop setups. If your bags are thinner, standard polyethylene or polypropylene film, our impulse sealers are usually the better fit.
Why Shop Constant Heat Sealers on CoffeeTec
Every constant (direct) heat sealer listed here comes from AIE or Sealer Sales, two of the most established names in bag sealing equipment. You'll find both new units and inspected used units, so you can match your budget to your production volume without giving up seal quality. Both jaws heat at once on these machines, which means better heat penetration into thicker material and a more consistent seal on packaging that a lighter-duty sealer would struggle with.
Running a coffee packaging operation and have a sealer to move on? CoffeeTec is a two-sided marketplace, so you can list your used equipment for other roasters to find while you shop for your next machine. Visit our sell equipment page to get started.
Foot-Operated vs. Automatic Constant Heat Sealers
Foot-operated constant heat sealers keep the jaws heated and let you trigger each seal with a foot pedal, so both hands stay free to position the bag. They suit lower to mid-volume operations where an operator seals bags one at a time. Automatic constant heat sealers add a timer-controlled cycle for heating, sealing, and releasing, which speeds up repetitive runs and reduces operator fatigue over a full shift. If your volume outgrows a tabletop automatic unit, our band sealers are worth a look for continuous, higher-throughput sealing.
Not sure which seal width or jaw style fits your coffee bags? Our sealer buying guide walks through the differences between constant heat, impulse, and band sealing, plus which materials each one handles best.
FAQs
What's the difference between a constant heat sealer and an impulse sealer?
+A constant heat sealer keeps both jaws heated at a set temperature the entire time it's on, which gives it more heat penetration for thicker or laminated materials. An impulse sealer heats briefly during each seal cycle and cools immediately afterward, so it requires no warm-up time but works best on thinner films.
What materials can a constant heat sealer seal?
+Constant heat sealers are built for coated aluminum foil, Kraft paper, cellophane, mylar, coated polypropylene, and gusseted bags, all materials that benefit from steady, higher heat rather than a quick pulse.
Can a constant heat sealer seal polyethylene bags?
+Constant heat sealers are not the right choice for standard polyethylene film, since the steady high heat can melt or distort it. For polyethylene or polypropylene bags, an impulse sealer gives a cleaner seal.
Should I choose a foot-operated or an automatic constant heat sealer?
+A foot-operated model works well if you're sealing bags one at a time and want to keep both hands free. An automatic model runs a timed heat-and-seal cycle on its own, which is well-suited to higher-volume, repetitive packaging runs.
Is a used constant heat sealer a good option?
+Yes. A used constant heat sealer from an established seller like AIE or Sealer Sales can seal just as well as a new unit at a lower cost, since these are simple, heavy-duty machines with few moving parts to wear out.
